Vastint Netherlands donates management system components to Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences

Following the departure of Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (HvA) from the Leeuwenburg building, hereinafter ‘Weesperzijde 190’, Vastint Netherlands has made a start on the partial demolition of the building. In September 2022 the HvA relocated to Jakoba Mulderhuis, but the management system for such things as the climate and lighting systems was left behind.

Vastint Netherlands is now donating these components to the HvA. The donation and reuse of the system contributes to Vastint’s aim to carry out the demolition work in as circular a manner as possible. The ultimate goal is to bring about a sustainable redevelopment of Weesperzijde 190.

A second life for the Priva Blue ID components
The management system regulates such things as the climate and lighting systems in the building and was renewed three to five years ago. The units are therefore still as good as new, but because of their specific applications cannot be used everywhere.

According to the HvA, the Priva components could be put to good use at a number of existing locations. Vastint Netherlands has therefore chosen to donate these to the former tenant.

Replacement
Some of the Priva components have now been installed at other HvA locations. The university has been able to use these control units to replace defective components and to shorten the delivery times of new products by using a number of components from the units.

The HvA plans to replace even more components with the spare components from Weesperzijde 190 during the coming year.

In terms of circularity, this is the best use on the R-ladder (Re-use ladder– R3: Dismantle elements, remove for immediate reuse).
